« Our body has the natural ability to heal itself »

Maria is Portuguese-British. Born and raised in Portugal, she moved to London to study psychology. A year later, she finally turned to medicine, which she studied in Prague for six years. Maria then returned to London where she spent 8 years working as a medical doctor and specializing as a GP.
Maria adheres to a holistic approach to health, where conventional medicine and complementary therapies come together for true healing. She encourages her patients to achieve optimal health across all aspects of their lives, and often insists on listening to the body to discover what works best. At Alegria, Maria enjoys the international environment, with colleagues and patients from all over the world. She values the friendly support, team spirit and holistic approach to health.
A keen traveller, Maria has travelled the world twice. She loves meeting new people and discovering different cultures, always curious about their unique approaches to healing and medicine. Outside of her travels, Maria is passionate about healthy and nutritious cooking, regularly practices yoga, and is also a keen diver.
