« Patients have a primary role in managing their health, by adopting the right habits. »
Dr Mendes is a globetrotter, which began at the age of 12 when she followed her parents to Macau until she came of age. Following her medical studies at the New School of Medicine in Lisbon, she spent two years working for NGOs in Guinea Bissau followed by a year in Spain as an emergency doctor.
Today, she divides her time between consultations and emergency shifts in Lisbon and the Azores, as well as occasionally returns to Africa for missions. She starts each day of the year with a yoga session and a sea bath, accompanied by a healthy and conscious diet – that’s the place to start.
