Dr Joao Ferraz is the new cardiologist at the Alegria Medical Centre. Originally from Brazil, he lived and worked in Curitiba, where he coordinated a team of 10 cardiologists and managed an emergency department. He always wanted to be a doctor to help people and make a difference to their lives. He chose cardiology because the heart is the main ‘engine’, a small but complex organ. Dr Ferraz specialises in echocardiography, arrhythmia and heart failure.
An optimist, this Tae Kwon Do black belt prefers to see things half full rather than half empty. He is also a keen traveler and a charitable soul who is socially committed to solidarity and charity.
