« Empathy above all. Be kind and truly listen. »
Born in Lisbon, Dr Raquel Botto has always been curious about the world. Her studies and travels have given her a broad-minded outlook and strong language skills. She had the opportunity to complete part of her medical training in Spain and to carry out internships in diverse settings, from Brazil to the United States. She worked as a Family Doctor for eight years in Canada, where she was notably responsible for supporting refugees. This experience deepened her commitment to a more human-centred and inclusive approach to medicine.
What she values most is building a relationship of trust with her patients and supporting them through every stage of their lives. Passionate about mental health, she fights against stigma and ensures everyone feels heard.
At the Alegria Medical Centre, she enjoys the diversity of patients and understands the challenges expatriates face when trying to find a doctor they can trust.
