« It’s not normal to be in pain, and it’s never too late to live a life free from it. »

Born and raised in Lisbon, Vasco has studied, worked, and taught there throughout his life. A medical specialist in rheumatology and a professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon, he has dedicated his career to understanding and treating diseases that affect the joints, bones, muscles, and tendons.

What he values most is helping his patients regain their independence and live without pain, especially those who have long searched for answers to their symptoms. Passionate about the links between stress, mental health, and chronic illness, he approaches rheumatology with a holistic view of health, where exercise, sleep, nutrition, and stress management are key pillars of well-being.

For him, medicine remains an art in which listening, empathy, and human connection play an essential role in healing.
