« Sport is an absolute priority for physical and mental well-being »

Joana da Ponte is a perineal rehabilitation physiotherapist. After completing her physiotherapy studies at ESSA (Escola Superior de Saúde de Alcoitão), she specialised in pelvic floor dysfunctions, pursuing a master’s degree in Malaga. In Portugal, she is considered a pioneer in this field. She had to convince her colleagues of the importance of proper pelvic floor re-education in post-operative cosmetic and prostate surgery. Today, she is also a trainer.

Joana treats men, women, and children. She is particularly passionate about pregnancy monitoring, athlete follow-up and male urological problems. At Alegria, she enjoys the friendly atmosphere, the good organisation, and the international patient base. This experience has enabled her to learn about pelvic health practices and approaches in other countries, something that interests her enormously.
